The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) is a professional organisation that regulates engineering education and profession laws in Pakistan. The PEC Act of 1976 established it in 1976. Engineers and professional engineers are also registered with the Council, as are engineering corporations that consult and build/operate in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Engineering Council represents Pakistan's engineering community and provides support to the federal and provincial governments. It also acts as a government think tank, with the goal of establishing scientific standards for technical breakthroughs and services.
It is based in Islamabad and has regional offices and liaison offices in Pakistan's major cities. In 2010, the council joined the Washington Accord as a provisional member, and in 2017 it was upgraded to full membership.
It joined the International Professional Engineer (IntPE) Agreement (IPEA) as a temporary member in 2011 and was promoted to full membership in 2018.
